Sally Field Shares Heartwarming Story of Robin Williams‘ Kindness on Set of ‘Mrs. Doubtfire

Sally Field, the Oscar-winning actress, recently shared a touching story about her late co-star Robin Williams, revealing how he changed the filming schedule of their iconic movie ‘Mrs. Doubtfire‘ after her father passed away.

The Heartfelt Gesture

Field, who played the role of Miranda Hillard, the ex-wife of Williams’ character Daniel Hillard, in the 1993 film, opened up about the experience during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. She explained that Williams, who was known for his kind heart and generosity, made a significant change to the filming schedule to accommodate her during a difficult time.

‘I was very close to my father, and he died very suddenly,’ Field said. ‘I was very, very sad, and Robin was just so kind. He was such a kind soul.’ Field’s father, Richard Dryden Field, passed away on April 15, 1993, just a few months before the film’s release.

A Gesture of Kindness

Field recalled that Williams, who was known for his improvisational skills and ability to make people laugh, decided to alter the filming schedule to give her time to grieve. ‘Robin said, ‘I’m not going to make you do this scene today. You’re not going to make me do this scene today,’ Field said, adding that Williams then proceeded to tell everyone on set that they would be taking the day off.

‘He said, ‘We’re not going to do this today. We’re going to go home, and we’re going to come back another day,’ Field continued. ‘And he did that for me, and I’ll be grateful to him forever.’ Field’s heartfelt story highlights Williams’ kind nature and his ability to empathize with others, even during difficult times.

Field’s experience with Williams on the set of ‘Mrs. Doubtfire‘ is a memory she will always cherish. ‘He was a very, very kind man, and I loved him,’ she said. Field’s story serves as a reminder of Williams’ generosity and compassion, both on and off screen.
