Rod Stewart admits "I'm aware my days are numbered"

Rock legend Rod Stewart has admitted that he knows his days are numbered, but he’s not ready to retire just yet. The 77-year-old singer-songwriter, known for hits like ‘Maggie May’ and ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy’, spoke about his mortality during an interview with the BBC.

When asked if he was scared of death, Stewart replied: ‘I’m aware that my days are numbered… but I don’t worry about it. I think you’ve got to live life to the fullest.’ He also added that he’s not ready to give up his music and performances just yet, saying: ‘As long as I can get up on stage and do what I love doing, I’ll keep going.”

Stewart has been open about his health issues in recent years, including a bout of heart surgery in 2014 and a diagnosis with a minor stroke in 2018. However, he’s shown no signs of slowing down, continuing to tour and release new music.

The rocker’s comments come as he prepares to celebrate his 50th anniversary as a solo artist, having released his debut album ‘An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down’ in 1969. Stewart has said that he plans to mark the milestone with a special concert and a new album.

Despite his mortality being on his mind, Stewart seems more focused on looking forward than dwelling on his own mortality. As he put it: ‘I’m not going to let my life be dictated by something that might happen. I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.’
