A politician’s claim, &c.

In the wake of the 2020 election, President Joe Biden and other Democrats made a series of claims about voter suppression and election irregularities. These claims were often based on anecdotal evidence or cherry-picked statistics that didn’t quite add up to the whole truth.

For example, one oft-repeated claim is that voter ID laws disenfranchise minority voters. According to the National Association of Secretaries of State, in 2020, just over 5% of registered voters in states with voter ID laws reported being unable to cast a ballot due to lack of identification.

Another popular claim is that election officials are biased and prone to making mistakes that favor one party over another. In reality, election officials work diligently to ensure the integrity of elections, and any errors or discrepancies are usually minor and quickly corrected.

It’s time for politicians to stop using misinformation to score political points and instead focus on building trust in our democratic institutions by supporting evidence-based policies.
