Society of Women in Film & TV Honors

The Society of Women in Film & TV has announced its honorees for the upcoming awards ceremony. Among those being recognized are actress Viola Davis, director Ava DuVernay, and producer Shonda Rhimes. The event aims to celebrate women’s achievements in the film and television industry.

Women in Film & TV: Breaking Barriers

Despite the progress made in recent years, women still face significant barriers in the film and television industry. According to a report by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film, women accounted for only 25% of all creators, writers, directors, producers, executive producers, editors, and cinematographers working on the 100 top-grossing films of 2020.

However, there are signs of improvement. The same report found that the number of women in key behind-the-scenes roles increased by 2% from 2019 to 2020. Additionally, the number of women directing top-grossing films more than doubled, from 12 in 2019 to 25 in 2020.

Zoe Kravitz: A Rising Star

Zoe Kravitz, daughter of actor Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, has been making waves in Hollywood with her versatile acting career. She has appeared in films such as ‘X-Men: First Class‘, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘, and ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald‘. Kravitz also starred in the HBO series ‘Big Little Lies‘, for which she received critical acclaim.

With her directorial debut ‘Blink Twice‘, Kravitz is set to join the growing list of women making their mark behind the camera. The film is expected to premiere in 2023.
