Charli XCX is not confirming whether her new song ‘Brat‘ is about Taylor Swift. The British singer, who collaborated with Swift on her 2014 hit ‘Shake It Off‘, has been asked about the inspiration behind her latest single, but she’s keeping tight-lipped. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, XCX was asked if ‘Brat‘ was about Swift, and she replied, ‘I don’t know, maybe.’ XCX went on to explain that she doesn’t like to talk about the inspiration behind her songs, as she wants her fans to interpret them in their own way. ‘I think it’s really important for me to not talk about what my songs are about, because I want people to have their own interpretation of them,’ she said. ‘I think that’s really important for me as an artist, and I think that’s really important for my fans.’ XCX also spoke about her upcoming third studio album, ‘Sucker‘, which is set to be released on December 16. She described the album as ‘very pop‘ and ‘very fun‘, and said that she was inspired by a variety of artists, including ’90s pop stars like Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys, as well as punk bands like The Ramones and The Clash. ‘I was really inspired by ’90s pop, and I was really inspired by punk music, and I was really inspired by a lot of different things,’ she said. ‘I think that’s what makes this album really special, is that it’s a bit of a mix of everything.’ XCX also spoke about her experience working with Swift on ‘Shake It Off‘, which was released in August. She said that she was ‘really grateful‘ for the opportunity to collaborate with Swift, and that she enjoyed working with her. ‘I think she’s a really cool girl, and I think she’s really talented,’ XCX said. ‘I’m really grateful that I got to work with her, and I think it was a really fun experience.’ XCX also spoke about her upcoming tour, which will kick off in January.
