Jimmy Kimmel and ‘favourite’ host reject offer to host 2025 Oscars

Jimmy Kimmel has announced that he is stepping down as host of the Academy Awards, and his replacement will be comedian John Mulaney. The news comes after a tumultuous few years for the Oscars, which have seen ratings decline and controversy surrounding certain nominees. In a statement, Kimmel said: “I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to host the Oscars for the past 15 years, but I feel it is time for me to step down and let someone else take the reins.” Mulaney has hosted the Independent Spirit Awards in the past and has been praised for his quick wit and sharp humor. The Oscars will take place on February 24th this year.
