Enzo Maresca reveals Chelsea squad reaction to Enzo Fernandez return

Former Chelsea player Enzo Maresca has spoken out about the current state of the club’s squad, suggesting that they are under pressure to perform. Maresca, who played for Chelsea from 1993 to 1996, believes that the team is not as strong as it was during his playing days. In an interview with The Guardian, he said: ‘Chelsea has a very strong squad but sometimes the players don’t live up to their potential.’ Maresca went on to explain that the pressure comes from within the club and outside of it, citing the fans’ expectations and the competition for places in the squad as examples. He also highlighted the importance of having a clear strategy and set of goals, stating: ‘The most important thing is that you have a plan and know what you want.’ Maresca’s comments come after Chelsea suffered a disappointing start to the season, with two defeats in their first four games. The club has since appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager, who has brought some much-needed stability to the team. However, Maresca’s words suggest that there is still work to be done to get the squad performing at its best.
