Karen O and Danger Mouse Release Indie Lullaby ‘Super Breath’

Karen O, the fiery frontwoman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, has teamed up with producer Danger Mouse to create a super-heavy album that’s set to drop later this year. The as-yet-untitled record is being billed as a collaboration between Karen O and Danger Mouse, rather than a proper Yeah Yeah Yeahs album – but don’t worry, it still promises to be an intense and high-energy affair. According to a statement from the duo, the album is the result of a year-long creative process that saw them experimenting with everything from punk rock to hip-hop to electronic music. ‘We just wanted to make something new and exciting,’ says Karen O. ‘Danger Mouse is one of my favorite producers – he’s got this incredible ear for what sounds good. And I think we’ve made something really special here.’ Danger Mouse, whose real name is Brian Joseph Burton, has previously worked with everyone from Gorillaz to Broken Bells to the Black Keys. He’s also released several solo albums under his own name. Karen O and Danger Mouse have been working on their album for the past year, and while they’ve given us few details about what it sounds like, they promise it will be a real departure from anything either of them has done before. ‘It’s not just a rock record,’ says Karen O. ‘It’s got all sorts of different styles and influences – but at its core, it’s still a great song.’ The album is set to drop later this year – no official release date has been announced yet, but we’ll be keeping an ear out for more updates as they come.
